Kambo Therapy is a powerful alternative medicine treatment that is very popular in the Western World, often as a pseudoscientific cleanse or detox to help release emotional and mental blocks, and even help with fertility and wider health concerns.
Kambo is a secretion from the Amazon that is full of bioactive peptides and neuropeptides, which have a powerful healing and cleansing effect on the human body.
The Kambo secretion is applied to the skin after small burns are made. Once applied, Kambo enters the lymphatic system, and goes to work by healing the body on a cellular level, whilst also stimulating a physical purge that enables toxins, disease and ‘bad luck’ or ‘panema’ to be eliminated from your mind, body and spirit.
Studies show that between the ages of 45 to 55 most of us females will be in our peri-menopause phase (although some will experience these much younger), which is a time of great transition in terms of what is happening both hormonally and physically to our bodies and can feel very unsettling,
Dealing with this, as well as spinning many other life plates, can then feel completely overwhelming.
Kambo is a secretion from one of the largest frogs known as the Giant Green Monkey Tree Frog. The scientific name is Phyllomedusa Bicolor.
The secretion is not a sweat nor a poison in the sense that it alone is not capable of causing death or illness. (contray to what the internet tells you – everything within kambo is pure and the ceremony uses your own natural peptides to help heal, repair & cleanse on a deeper level than just physical, making it the most purest way of healing internally & externally).
In the Amazon, it is regarded as a medicine however this should not be confused with the western definition of a medicine given by western doctors. The frog that kambo comes from is nocturnal and arboreal and because it has no natural predators it is found in beautiful abundance across the Upper Amazon rainforest areas of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, French Guiana, Suriname and Venezuela – no frogs are hurt or harmed during the collection of kambo.
Kambo Therapy has been used since the early 1920’s but has become more popular within the western world over the years and even more so within the UK since influencers and TV Personalities are now turning to alternative ways of healing.
Each tribe has its own legend and journey about how they came to use Kambo Therapy. However, the most prevalent legend comes from Brazil…
This certain Kaxinawá legend tells that the Indians of the tribe were very ill and their medicine man (Pajé in Brazil) had done everything that was possible to cure them. All medicinal herbs known were used, but none helped them.
Under the influence of sacred plant medicines, he entered the forest and whilst, there received a visit from the beautiful female spirit of the forest. She brought in her hands a frog, from which she took a white secretion, and taught the Pajé how to apply it. Pajé then returned to the tribe and following the guidelines he had received from the beautiful mother spirit, he was able to cure his tribe.
Usage spread, and for thousands of years, Kambo Therapy has been used as medicine by the Kaxinawá people, and by many other indigenous groups including the Amahuaca, Katukina, Kulina, Yawanawá, Matses, Marubo and Mayoruna. It is still used widely amongst indigenous people in the Amazon to this day.
The first observations of Kambo use were made by a French priest, Father Constantin Tastevin in 1925 whilst he was staying with the Kaxinawá tribe in the upper Juruá River in Brazil. In the 1980s an American Anthropologist, Katherine Milton, described Kambo use among the Mayoruna tribe in Brazil, and in the 1980s Peter Gorman wrote about his experiences taking Kambo with the Matses tribe in Peru.
During the 1990s, rubber tappers in Brazil learned about Kambo from the Amazon Indians. They began to take it out into the towns of Acre and apply it themselves. Having spent several years living with the Katukina, Francisco Gomes from Cruzeiro do Sol was one of the first people to pioneer the use of Kambo outside the Amazon. The practice spread and soon people in the larger cities of Brazil were using Kambo. Kambo is legal everywhere within the world.
“Kambo contains a fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications, unequalled by any other amphibian.”
– Vittorio Erspamer, Italian Scientist, 1986
In 1986, an Italian scientist, Vittorio Erspamer of the University of Rome was the first person to analyse Kambo. The chemicals he referred to are peptides, which help our bodies fight bacteria, promote wound healing, as well as producing creatine and collagen which helps boost muscle growth or muscle repair. The peptides studied by Erspamer have become essential to characterise the functional role of opioid receptors. He was twice nominated for a Nobel Prize and was also the first person to discover Serotonin.
The popularity and use of Kambo as a natural way to heal and help with overall wellbeing is spreading worldwide and becoming a new age way to ensure emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs are aligned. As the scientific research into the secretion of the Phyllomedusa Bicolor grows, skilled practitioners are also developing new ways to work with this powerful substance from the Amazonian Rainforest, which allows it to be accessible to almost everyone in a safe and manageable way.
Not only do we now have several different traditional ways to take Kambo but we can also work with the Meridians, the Chakras, Nadis and Marma Points and even the ears – Auricular Kambo. Added to this, there are also new techniques to allow people to take Kambo in a way that is gentler on their system but still allows them to enjoy the maximum benefits.
Kambo Therapy is known to help with a range of health conditions including:
and many more…
Your first session will be a basic Kambo Therapy treatment. A basic treatment is used traditionally in the amazon as an initiation to Kambo. This is when 3-6 points of Kambo are placed on your upper arm or lower leg, after we have set the intention for what you want to receive from Kambo.
A basic treatment will always be your first treatment and will give you powerful shifts in just one ceremony. This allows us to assess how your body experiences the medicine.
Although one session is enough to create an enormous shift, many see the amazing benefits Kambo brings into their life and continue onto having subsequent sessions on a regular basis to allow even deeper shifts and changes to occur.
After your first initiation session we can often work on a detailed specialised treatment plan to allow deeper changes to occur.
Whether its a single session or an agreed series of sessions I take your session goals and the placement of your Kambo points very seriously to help you achieve those results. Contact will be made before your session to discuss what these are.
My aim is to give you a power deep session that creates fast long lasting healing.
Depending on your goals, I can advise a suggested amount of sessions. If this is agreed then a full treatment plan for each sessions will be created for you.
I will also integrate other therapeutic practices within the sessions and ceremonies using hypnosis and EFT, and you will be provided with a Hypnotherapy recording to help continue your healing journey.
Please contact me with your condition / situation and we can discuss how Kambo could assist you.
Please note, you will need to allow up to 3 hours for your session.
